greetings and thanks for making a stop off the information highway to my new website.
thanks to the talented young bassist and computer wiz evan gregor for his invaluable assistance in getting this up. he rules!
well it is summer so i hope you are enjoying some well deserved R & R. here, i am enjoying seeing my kids frolic in the grass, pool and sprinkler. the boys are almost 15 months and scaling all of the furniture. my daughter audrey enjoys ballet, playing dress up, movies and drawing. (the website features her masterpieces!) my wife and i enjoying the art of grilling. very tasty tuna,shrimp and grilled vegetable delights thus far. of course fine beverages accompany our gastronomic journeys. check out, if you are legal of course, new zealand sauvignon blancs. hmmmm. tasty!
on the gigarama front
recorded new quartet cd for palmetto comes out in feb 03 LOOK OUT! andrew, jeff and yosuke seriously deal. also guest appearances from trumpeter john carlson, trombonist curtis hasselbring and my wife Felicia on violin.
did a nice tour of new music i wrote to carl sandburg poetry for the quartet plus our talented friend dawn thomson singing and playing. (click on carl sandburg project) also fun at the rochester jazz fest.
nice week at the iridium here in nyc the master lee konitz and the wonderful drew gress. ALSO did a lovely duo cd w/ lee for steeplechase records in april .
nice year w/ mr dewey redman. smashing performances in chicago, brazil, miami and the vision fest here in nyc.
was also in brazil in april with blue seven, a fun american, brazilian band. we played arrangements of dexter gordon tunes by ohad talmor. a wonderful experience! BRAZIL IS AWESOME!
great weekends here in nyc also w/ dean derose at smoke (her new cd is amazing comes out 9/24/02) and denny zeitlin trio at the jazz standard.
looking forward to upcoming gigs w/ buster williams’ band, andrew hill’s trio, martin wind-peter winegar quartet, bill mays trio. also recording new cds for bill, falkner evans w. my good friend cecil mcbee and ted nash quintet w/ wynton marsalis. also looking forward to my annual teaching at the interplay jazz camp.
